Welcome to the 2014 school year

It's great to have the all the children back and focussed on their work. Remember Meet the teacher tomorrow evening, February 12 at 6pm. We are starting the evening with a presentation from Sue Graham all about Mathematics and your child. A great presentation- full of lots of ways you can support your child's learning.

Our School Project

St Patrick’s school has now been registered in Our School Project, a daily trivia quiz that donates approximately 20 cents per day to the school, for every person who completes the quiz. We would appreciate your help in this fundraising venture so we can provide more learning resources for the children of St Patrick’s. Please share this with your work colleagues – a fun challenge to see who knows the most trivia.
By the time we have our next quiz night there will be a real competition!

Parenting Teens

I recommend this evening to all parents. Nathan Mikaere- Wallis is an informative and well educated speaker with a wealth of knowledge to share.

Visiting a Space station.

I was fortunate to visit the Space station in Rata today. I was most impressed by the multitude of facts about space that the children in Rata shared with me too.

Sand Art

It was great to see a couple of children from Totara this week with their Sand Art depicting scenes from the Bible. A great effort Tessa and Jacob! I even managed to guess one of the Bible references.

Catholic Schools day

What a wonderful way to celebrate Catholic Schools day - after having our school Mass on Sunday we travelled to Hanmer Springs to celebrate being part of the St Patrick's community. We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day and fabulous parent helpers who appeared to have as much fun as the children. Thanks to the Red Cross 2011 Earthquake Grant which funded our excursion.

Retelling stories

Rata are working on the skill of retelling stories. Today I had the pleasure of hearing "I know that" retold by Wilhemina and Gemma. Well done girls! A great effort with wonderful expression and fabulous puppets.
